Folktale Week 2024
Folktale Week is an annual online art challenge that invites artists and storytellers from around the world to share work based on prompts provided by the hosts that year. Interpretations can take any form, but are generally rooted in folklore, mythology, and storytelling. Work is shared on social media across seven days with each day featuring one of the prompts.
I created standalone illustrations that, together, form a connected narrative, featuring characters from Manx folklore. I wanted to explore themes of personal growth, environmental awareness.

———IN PROGRESS———
1. _Mist_: Manannan’s cloak of mist sweeps across the island, blurring reality and guiding the wanderer inland.
2. _Gate_: The wanderer approaches a glowing gate, torn between curiosity and perceived safety.
3. _Blight_: The fairies whisper to the Buggane, setting blight upon the wanderer for carelessness.
4. _Trail_: A quiet trail stretches ahead while shadows behind carry whispers of things left undone.
5. _Depth_: The wanderer dives into the depths, finding shimmering beauty and danger as the Taroo-Ushtey keeps to the shadows.
6. _Bone_: Amongst the bones of a giant forest guardian, the wanderer admires a thistle blossom—a fragile symbol of renewal.
